Questions

What people ask most.

Do I need an account?

No. Ember works fully on your device without one: threads, the Daily page, focus blocks, Week, Calendar, the Dashboard and the widgets all work from the first launch.

A free account adds two things: sync between your iPhone and iPad, and Plan with Ember, the planning assistant. Sign in from Settings → Account.

Is my data private?

Ember is local-first. Every tap is saved on your device first, and the app works offline.

If you sign in, your data syncs through our server so your devices match. When you ask Ember to plan, the details that plan needs (your goals, threads, to-dos and schedule) go to our server and on to Anthropic's Claude, which writes the plan. Nothing is sent to the assistant until you ask it to plan.

We use anonymous crash reports and usage analytics to fix problems. There is no advertising and no tracking. The details are in the privacy policy.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to Settings → Your data and tap Delete account and all data. This deletes your server account and every record in it, and clears the copy on that device.

If you can no longer open the app, email us from the address on the account and we will delete it for you.

My widgets are missing.

Open Ember once after installing. Widgets appear in the widget gallery only after the app has launched for the first time. Then long-press the Home Screen or Lock Screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Ember.

Live Activities show while a focus block is running.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad running iOS 17 or iPadOS 17, or later. One download covers both, and the iPad has its own layout.

I used the earlier app. How do I get my data into Ember?

Install Ember and sign in with the same account. Your threads, plans and history sync down within a few seconds.

Does it cost anything?

Ember is free to download, and there are no in-app purchases today.
